PHILACLUB
Date of issue: 4 December 2009
Magyar Posta is presenting on a set of regular stamps the popular characters of Philaclub and the Play Post Office (Levi Phila, Bogi Phila and Spotty Mouse) created to encourage stamp collecting among children.
Philaclub is a virtual stamp collecting club on Magyar Posta’s web
site, where young visitors can learn many interesting facts about
Hungarian and foreign stamps, play, find friends, chat and swap items.
Children can test their knowledge by playing pairs and puzzles about
stamps as well as answering quiz questions, and in this way learn while
having fun. A special feature offered by Philaclub is the chance to make
a web site. All that young people with an enterprising spirit have to
do is register and they can make their own web site where they can talk
to and get to know each other and as a philately club discuss their
activities and events to do with stamps, as well as upload their own
photos and pictures of their latest stamps. Philaclub can help children
who are not fortunate enough to have a stamp club at their school to
find where the nearest club to their home which they could join is. To
visit the web site go to www.posta.hu/filaklub.
Levi Phila, Bogi Phila and Spotty Mouse live at the Play
Post Office, which is a special, magic stamp playhouse with mini
counters, a stamp wall, costumes and a wheel of fortune. Apart from
playing every day, there are organised events for pre-school and primary
school children. The Play Post Office (Meseposta) is on the third floor
of the Mammut II Shopping Centre in Budapest. On the stamps of the Philaclub stamp set Levi Phila, Bogi
Phila and Spotty Mouse are inviting children to come and play at
Philaclub. Playful motifs adorn the first day cover for the stamp set,
and the design of the special postmark is a Spotty Mouse smiling.
