The special feature of the issue is that the stamps can be bought as part of a six-part board game. The six playing sheets make up a fun game for children to playfully learn about stamp collecting as the name itself, PHILAVIL-LAGE, refers to philately. Part 1 was issued on 6 June, part 2 on 20 June and part 3 on 10 July.
The stamps show the busy lives of the inhabitants of PHILA-VILLAGE. On the seventh and eighth stamps of the series chil-dren can see the village school and museum. The first day cover for the series introduces the friendly villagers, while the main motif of the postmark is a stylized bear’s head.
