György Konecsni studied painting at the College of Fine Arts and then worked as a graphic artist. As a stamp designer he first came to prominence with his work set and block ‘Art’ in 1940. After the Second World War he made posters, paintings and stamp designs. From the 1960s onwards he won commissions for murals and mosaics. In 1946 Konecsni set up the Department of Applied Graphics at the Academy of Applied Arts. In 1949 the Department moved to the College of Fine Arts, where he taught until 1954, and, after a ten-year break, again until he died. He won two major Hungarian recognitions, the Kossuth Prize and the Artist of Merit, as well as numerous international awards. (Source: http://hu.wikipedia.org)
