Holiday vouchers are issued by the Hungarian National Recreational Foun-dation (HNRF), which was founded by the government of the Republic of Hungary and six professional confederations as a civil organisation performing a public service in 1992. Among the main aims of the HNRF is to pro-vide concessionary holidays for social purposes to employees, members of the association and their families, pensioners and other persons without an independent income.
Aid in the form of vouchers for recreation ensures transparency, its use for the purpose intended, controllability and the chance for disadvantaged people to regenerate and stay healthy.
Today holiday vouchers are accepted by over 8,000 service providers. This special means of payment can be used in a variety of ways and is suitable to pay for accommodation and other related services; travel services such as train, coach and boat trips; cultural, sport and leisure services; ser-vices for the maintenance of health and prevention of illnesses; fishing licences; spa and swimming services; entrance tickets to the Budapest Zoo; meals in restaurants linked to specific places of accommodation without staying there and in independent catering establishments; entrance tickets for the Hungaroring and Hungexpo; hiring articles for leisure activities, and travel insurance within Hun-gary. The graphic composition in the stamp design refers to the pleasant and carefree relaxation ensured by the holiday voucher. The first day cover and the postmark follow the style of the stamp and are designed with pleasurable use of free time in mind.
