EUROPA 2008 - LETTER-WRITING

Date of issue: 9. May 2008

In Magyar Posta’s miniature sheet two different but related stamps are shown diagonally and rotated. The stamp designs have motifs referring to letter-writing. The HUF 100 stamp shows an envelope, writing paper and a decorative letter “A”, while the main motif of the HUF 230 stamp is the nib of a pen. In the frame of the miniature sheet there is a graphic composition suggesting a handwritten letter. In the continuously repeated text the following phrase occurs again and again in Hungarian, English and French: “Levél, levél-írás, letter, letter-writing, lettre, écrire une lettre, …”. The composition is completed by an inkwell and a quill. The motifs used in the frame are repeated on the first day cover and postmark.
