ETHNIC MINORITIES IN HUNGARY I – ROMA

Date of issue: 8. April 2008

The first stamp presents the Romany minority in Hungary through their traditions and art. The stamp focuses on music and dance. Groups of Gypsies have played and still play an important role in music in Hungary, the Balkans, Spain and many parts of North Africa. Professional Roma musicians play and sing their own folk music, composed music and songs as well as that of the neighbouring peoples in their own distinctive style. Source: http://hu.wikipedia.org
