ENAMEL PAINTINGS ON THE HOLY CROWN IV

Date of issue: 19 August 2008

This is the concluding block of the series released over four years.
The numbered special stamp block was made based on the works of painter Éva Nyáry. The block contains three different stamp designs which depict three of the enamel plates in the order they are positioned on the bands of the Holy Crown as if they were spread out. The motifs of the stamps from left to right are Saint Damian, Saint Demeter and the Archangel Gabriel.

The frame of the block shows a detail of the coronation robe from the collection of the Hungarian National Museum. At the bottom there is a foil-printed silhouette of the Holy Crown with the position of the enamel panels depicted in the block marked. The main motif of the block’s first day cover is the Holy Crown and the special postmark features a stylized depiction of the Holy Crown.
