11TH INTERNATIONAL CAVE RESCUE CONFERENCE, AGGTELEK-JÓSVAFŐ

15 May 2007

The International Union of Speleology decided to hold the 11th conference at its congress in Greece in August 2005, awarding the right to stage the conference to the Hungarian Cave Rescue Service. The organisers chose a venue near the Baradla cave in the Aggtelek National Park. Numerous topics including organising rescue, responsibility, finance and safety are on the agenda of the four-day conference. The design of the stamp shows the indispensable equipment of cave rescuers, a helmet and a rope, perhaps the most important of all. The background refers to the surroundings of a rescue. On the right of the stamp are the logos of the organisations associated with the event, those of the 11th International Cave Rescue Confe- rence, the Hungarian Cave Rescue Service and the Aggtelek National Park. The first day cover and the post-mark capture moments from a cave rescue.
